We just ate the whole cake. That’s right, if you watched IT, then you were just forced to eat the whole fucking cake without knowing what was underneath the frosting.🎂
Do you taste it? The after?… That flavor is a pallet that just doesn’t go away after a rinse; it’s the smell lurking type.👃🏾
The theme of this article is “what isn’t being said after it was all said.” Scared to be too late into the Glover dance analyzation game, after 5 days of rewrites, no sleep, and deep hesitation about what is wrong or right to say, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’d rather fail big than fail small. I have to do what I feel. Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant broke the record for the most shots in the NBA, but what no one ever talks about is that they also have the most missed shots. You gotta keep throwing shit out there. I never want to hurt anyone and don’t intend to. If I’m wrong, then I’m wrong. Make sense of what you will, this is just my art, my rap track. Being culturally appropriate here at TLG. 👊🏽
Here we go. After eating Glover’s whole cake, I drove through one of the blackest streets in America blasting Donald Glover’s This is America, something felt so wrong about publicly playing that song as black people glanced, like I was exposing it to cultural appropriation, and for playing it and not being black. There’s an entire conversation about Glover’s video that we aren’t having. What isn’t being talked about is, is it appropriate for a non-black person to enjoy the song and dance to it? What’s appropriate? Intention is. Moral is.
After cruising through the streets whilst during a media triad of Glover, the Met Gala, and Kanye’s free thoughts, this story came to me. It’s what I thought of, so I wrote it. Here we go. Fail big.
Donald Glover’s This is America
The west changes faster than the wild. The Harbinger Gorilla.
There once was a King Silverback Gorilla. He looked after his own, kept his family safe from outsiders, and knew that his type were being hunted and on the verge of extinction. He could always foretell when danger lurked and taught others how to spot it. He was brave and in moments when an attacker approached, he would beat his chest, growl, and doing everything he could to distract the danger until his pack family could flee to safety. When he and his family weren’t running from poachers and had a moment to rest, he’d find a grassy patch were the sun shined and he’d begin to sing. His family would often join in with the hums and hoos. The King was growing old and was tired. He had a big heart and always hoped that the poachers from the West could exist with gorillas peacefully like the rest of the Wild. One day, whilst happily in the free sun, the King was relaxed and saw several poachers coming forth. Un-instinctually and sun-dazed, he thought “maybe if I showed them I was friendly, they’d come join and sing with us.” He started to hum and dance to distract the poachers, but his family got confused. “Why would King hum and not growl?” Because they followed King, the rest of the pack joined in and sang and danced in front of the men with guns. The poachers had never seen something like this before. “Gorillas dancing? What a rare thing to join in on.” So the poachers joined in and danced with the primates and even locked both their five-finger-hands, but as time passed and the gorillas were ready to retreat to the forest, the hums stopped and thats when the poachers were no longer distracted. It was fun, but unlike gorillas, poachers are carnivores and they had to feed with a their bounties. So as the gorillas waved goodbye and turned their trusted backs, a poacher made a monkey sound, “oo ah ah”,
and right then the King knew, turned and banged his chest with rage. His family ran, but the majority were shot and the rest had to learn to survive in the wild alone. The King was drugged, caged, and beat. Because he was a true King, he always tried to stand back up with moral. When consumers got word that a silverback King was caught, word began to spread and everyone wanted a piece of him – his skin, his bones, his teeth, his head. When they finally killed him, they tore him into pieces and sold every part of him off but because so many westerners wanted a piece of a King, poachers began to sell fake bones and fur from other animals to the point where so much of “the King” was distributed that he lost his value. One night one of the King’s son’s snuck into a poachers camp and stole the last of what was left of the King, his big heart. His son brought his heart back to what was left of the pack and under the stars in a secret safe location, they buried the King’s heart and sang. It was a beautiful ceremony, a private moment of honor for an entire family and community, but little did they know that a tourist was secretly filming them. The next day, a video went viral on Youtube of singing gorillas in ceremony. They sang so beautifully that it was a distraction to the fact that they were mourning and people only cared to see what was on the surface. “Monkeys Fucking Singing” was the title. From the video, poachers found their secret location, caught them all, put them in cages and only let them out when they were made to sing and dance on Youtube with a green screen in the background. The King’s heart remained in the ground, it’s still there and some flowers have sprouted out from it.
If Donald Glover were smart, he’d hide. Good thing, apparently he is trés intelligenté, doesn’t like people, and know’s that only a few people truly love him. You didn’t care who Donald Glover was last week, but now you’re an expert! Everyone wants a piece of him, let’s hope he doesn’t let them steal his heart like they did Kanye. In Trump’s America we so desperately search for a hero so we can wait with our necks down to read on TMZ that our hero has failed and thus feel better about our lives after. No one talks about that either.
Art isn’t meant to be picked apart, it’s meant to be experienced, but those who are unsatisfied dissect till there’s nothing left. We’re too late, This is America, has already been analyzed again and again and every analyzation is conscious-blowing and accurate, but what no one is saying is what really needs to be said, the future is black more than it is female and we’re not sure what to do with Glover’s video just as much as men aren’t sure if they should open a door for a woman. So he said it, now what. Just like Michaelagelo’s the last judgement, once it was done, some other painter was brought in to cover up the genitalia and it went in history books.
The Last Judgement it was, Glover is officially millennial culture’s version of Michaelanglo and amen. Did he create a REAL masterpiece that we’d go to war over to preserve the digital file for a thousand years? Seriously?
Why did I drive through a black neighborhood blasting this song? Eh-em. Well I ask you madam, who else was going to do it and write about it? Why am I writing this? To say and do something others aren’t. Why did Glover make this video? Why did Kanye say “slavery was a choice.” Cause they felt like it. No I didn’t film it because I wasn’t touring; I just wanted to feel what it felt like… and I didn’t want to get shot! Boom boom. Yeah I said it! I’m lucky my car is shitty, that I’m not white, and I can turn on a sex appeal friendly smile because I can only imagine the situation I put myself in would have been different had I been a white male. You know white guys are jammin, but with their windows zipped and their airpods secured. With me the people I drove by felt the song and smoothly head shrugged said “wuz up” through my window, but after I rolled my windows up and drove back to my home to a once very black neighborhood and now one of the most expensive yuppie neighborhoods in America, Venice Beach. That’s what we do here in Los Angeles, the city of refugee, we stay in our cars and look out the windows at the zoo.
Since the release of Glover’s track, I’ve probably listened to it more than anyone in America. Seriously. I’ve repeated it so many times and watched and paused the video so many fucking times that I might know every cut and sound mix better than the editors. Why? Because it’s everything, it manipulates me every time. Happy cheery smooth ballad and then boom, you remember what it really is. We predict the change in music frequencies through course, but this frequency became an algorithm your brain isn’t going to solve. Many have questioned if the lyrics are too simple, but that’s the irony, it would have been a hit with or without the lyrics and the visuals.
My only question is, what came first, the song or the video concept? Probably just the feeling.
Since you probably googled him too, Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, aka the creator of the show Atlanta, aka that rapper who went all “gorilla” and made that conscious-blowing video didn’t just mirror 2018’s collective culture, he foretold the future.
Future forward here because the west changes faster than the wild.
It’s fact. Wild gorillas are still the world’s largest and most intelligent primates. They protect their kin and evoke emotions, compassion, and grief for other primates…. including humans. A King Silverback will do everything he can do DISTRACT hunters and when he does find solstice, he does sing and his pack will join in on the course. There are all facts. In the west, we kill anyone and thing that isn’t on brand to the moment and only feel something when we can catch it on our iPhone lenses… You need an iPhone X to really see through the darkness.
To be blunt AF, the future is black more than it is female. The significance of Glover’s song, the fastest viral video to ever hit youtube, for-tells everything about millennial culture and the shit show of future generations. Although it was about blacks, it was bigger, it was about everything. Kendrick’s Pulitzer, Beyonce breaking Coachella, America’s royal Kardashian-West family, Obama, colleges’ most prized athletic possessions, who-wore-what in fashion, and pop culture are all indications – harbingers. Maybe a Yeezy thing to say, but think conceptually here. If you’re an American TLGer, millennial, or Gen-Z’er, then what do you know most about? The DISTRACTIONS. Why is the future more black than female? Blacks with a cause know their history more than women do and blacks aren’t playin it nice. You have to look to the past to understand the future. Wasn’t the Women’s March the most peaceful protest in history? Peace is nice, but how do wars get won? What happened to the gorilla King when played it nice? What’s happening right now for women? Not all, but so many are staying politically correct and on brand and men are secretly talking shit. Many men will say, “We just don’t know what to do. They hate us.” and thus their smiles don’t match their minds.
If equality was real, there would be ‘mennists’ and they’d post dick pics on their instagram as much as #feminists do their butts.
Yeah we said it and that’s what free thinking is. (betch)
In the past week of millennial culture, there’s been a lot of blunt shit that hasn’t been said, so lets say it.
What is America really?
According to Vice, “Scholars Say if You Hate the Kardashians, You Probably Hate Yourself” because you’re “probably avoiding some uncomfortable self-reflection.” Probably, indeed. We should all hate ourselves for not having sex on camera and getting mega rich and famous for it, dam… Shoulda, woulda, coulda! But don’t live in the “shoulda,” this is America.
We internet troll a girl in a geisha prom dress yet bow down to Rihanna anointed as the Pope and “A-list” feminists dazzled as what they are, “Heavenly Bodied ”whores. We chastise Catholicism for pedophelia yet throw a “fashion” party to shine light on the red carpet? Yes, a red carpet it is… that leads straight to hell. One can’t help to forget the moral of it all. We #lynch anyone who powders their face too dark, yet praise women who sell her bodies making a mockery of real heroes like Joan of Arc, the Virgin Mary, and Jesus Christ.
What costume would you wear if you were invited?… to a sex party.
Why all this talk of Kanye and the Met Gala, I thought we were talking about Glover? 2018’s Met Gala theme was Cultural Appropriation and so was This is America. Celebrity culture is the most influential and powerful culture since Jesus. The Kardashian’s have a Kimposium, where a crowd of sociologists and stuff come together to discuss their phenomenon. The reality star royal family is rightfully being studied in universities across the world. Make fun of Kanye all you want, but you’re most likely going to be jammin’ to his new streams in a couple months. Distractions. If Glover released his track without the video, we’d tear it apart for it’s simple lyrics and gun sound effects.
In 1540-something, Pope Paul III was attacked for commissioning and protecting Michelangelo’s work he slaved over, The Last Judgement. Who knew that this very painting would come to life in the matter of 48 hours? From Kanye’s free thoughts to end-of-moral fashion statements to the Glover dance, to mother nature reminding us we don’t own the land with Kilaueu’s volcano, let’s call this movie,The Night at the Trump’s America
Below is a scene from The Last Judgement. It depicts the 16th century Master of Ceremonies as the greek creature Minos. Every decade Minos would choose seven boys and seven girls to be sent away into a maze to be hunted and chowed down by a Minotaur. When Minos died, he became the underworld’s judge of death. His nudity is fake-ly hidden by a snake and he stands above a man with whom appears to be wearing donkey ears and has cock in his mouth. When Pope Paul III’s Master of Ceremonies saw the art, he moralized
“It was most disgraceful that in so sacred a place there should have been depicted all those nude figures, exposing themselves so shamefully, and that it was no work for a papal chapel but rather for the public baths and taverns”.
Michaelangelo painted a male driven sex party of hidden messages on the ceiling of the Vatican and it looks exactly like today! Was it always this bad? You don’t see any women getting kissed in the painting. Was this an accurate depiction of the time or did the painter just feel what the future looked like? It’s hard to know. Donald Glover created metaphors of how we’ve treat guns better than black people, images of the way a black man looks when he runs in the dark (scary AF), and a viral lemonade dance of some hips and booty poppin beats that became culturally ironic distractions from the blunt. Was it always this bad? Like the last judgment, maybe things just never change and a thousand years from now history just repeats itself? If you stare at the ceiling long enough, you will see.
It’s not the video that is the masterpiece, it’s the FEELING. How do we preserve that? How do we bury the heart of the King? After you ate the cake, what did you feel? What did you feel 30 seconds in after you already started to dance and when you realized what you were actually watching and what it was seriously saying? Most felt that feeling of the apocalypse, the future, the wild, and the west.
If you are or ever will be privileged enough to see the Sistine Chapel🙏🏾in real life, you will have or had to wait in a very long two hour line and by the time you make it through the maze of the Vatican you become hangry and rush through the final piece, the Sistine Chapel.
You might take a secret selfie photo and marvel at the ceiling for a minute and try to appreciate it because that’s what you think you’re supposed to do, but there are just too many distractions for you to see, to really SEE, understand, and judge… You can’t make out the detail when your neck it tilted up for too long, unless your high… seriously higher up to see 😉 Later, you will probably post your secret selfie on your IG so everyone can tilt their necks down to see that you got it ‘experience it’. Weak necks and super-unnatural-fingers, this is America.
Did you SEE Kanye’s rant? Or did you just see what everyone else saw?👁
Did you see what Ariana Grande was wearing? OMG dat hoe wins.👑
Forbes just reported, “Donald Glover just showed us a smarter, superior way to attract attention.” Yes, because an artist has to make their art to create feeling and Glover hasn’t allowed poachers to tear him to pieces yet. Pills do kill genius and so does celebrity. Why do you think artists go “crazy” and then isolate? It’s because artists need to get to that feeling to create it. Legend has it, geniuses lives in walls and jump around soul to soul through walls until someone will use what they have to give, like ideas. Glover stays in his walls for a reason.
“Do you feel that I’m being free and thinking free?”
Free thinkers are humans and just words don’t always accurately express feeling, except in French, apparently the French language can do this…💋But because TLG is a very proud American🇺🇸free thought spot🧠, we know that artists need to make their art to really hit the mark.
“Authenticity is figuring out by who you and by what you make.” – Donald Glover
Being street smart is knowing when to blend in and when to stand out, that is strategy, and that’s exactly what Glover did, he timed it just right. We look for momentary heroes, but Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino can’t save you because no one can; however he did warn future digital art preservationist of what the future looks like. Like a silverback gorilla, people like him are rare and hunted for being beautiful and strong. Everyone wants a piece of the cake until there’s nothing left. It’s a fucking mess out there and it’s not the wild wild west because the west changes faster than the wild and at some point, the last white horse will be riding though, but little do you know that the white horse won’t be white nor a unicorn.🦄It’ll probably be a donkey with a cock in it’s mouth…. It might even look like you.
Whatever it feels like, it’ll be the last.
What will the last American look like?
What did your grandma tell you?
My grandma still thinks she’ll get her money.
DONE. FAIL BIG.

MORAL OF THE STORY
Kanye said, “Certain icons are too far in the past and not relatable and that’s what makes them safe.” We’ve studied the Sistine Chapel, the Holy Bible, and centuries of persevered art like the Mona Lisa’s face, but how will our art made today be studied thousands of years from now? Can you even imagine it? Honestly? Thoughts become things, if you can’t see a future, there won’t be one.
In the News🙏🏾
We’re praying for the people and their homes on Kilaueu. To see mother nature take back and clean the land is fascinating and beautiful. Watching a car just disappear under molten lava, one can’t help but hope when it dries, green things will sprout up… but this is a natural disaster and good humans and their loved homes are being burnt away. Don’t be distracted from the background.
The Last Generation🎂
TLG keeps foretelling the future. Everyone wants to be Jesus, Selma Hayek what we just wrote about- The Garden of Earthly Delights, and when Charlemagne tells Kanye to “Remember who you are” like The Lion king, we said it first.👊🏽
Freedom of thought is a weapon and we’re practicing and studying genius. We are writing in transparency so you can see the difference from those who don’t. Because TLG doesn’t have stock holders and no one pays us, we don’t filter but do hope we hurt no one. This article is very hard to make sense out of, but we tried at least we’re trying to bake you a whole cake even if it comes out burnt, because the present is the present!
Again we don’t hate Trump at all because he knows more than us. We think America IS GREAT! Honestly. <3
The culture is darkening and only those who can navigate their minds through it will survive.
There’s the last supper, the last judgment, the last jedi, and then there’s THE MUTHA-PHUCKIN LAST GENERATION!
